THE DIRECTOR

CJ Redden Liotta (BA, University of North Texas, MM, George Mason University) has been an active professional musician in the Washington, DC area for more than 10 years. In addition to his teaching at Falls Church, he currently serves as the Music Minister at Vienna Baptist Church and as the founding Artistic Director of the Festival Singers of Northern Virginia. As a conductor, he served for five years as a Graduate Conducting Associate at George Mason University where, in addition to working with the Mason Jazz Vocal Ensemble, he conducted the University Chorale, University Singers, Symphonic Band, and Symphony Orchestra. He was formerly the Musical Director for the Woodbridge Community Chorus and Music Director and Conductor for the Repertory Opera Theatre of Washington. He has taught as an adjunct professor of music at George Mason University, where he taught Fundamentals of Music and Aural Skills. He also teaches voice and flute in private studio settings.

As a singer, Mr. Redden-Liotta has performed with many ensembles, including the University of North Texas Jazz Singers, the Woodley Ensemble, and the Professional Core of the Washington Master Chorale. He has made several appearances with the National Symphony Orchestra, providing background vocals for the symphony and artists such as Ben Folds. As soloist, he has performed in several capacities including the world premiere and recording of the Requiem by Paul Leavitt, the East Coast premiere of Eternal Light: A Requiem by British composer Howard Goodall, and Handel’s Messiah and the Mozart Requiem with the George Mason University Symphony Orchestra.
