Welcome back Jaguars!

I am excited to be coming to Falls Church High School as the new chorus director this fall. I wanted to take a moment to give you a preview of next year, and make you aware of a few items to be ready for in the fall.

Our program will look a little different next year than it has in the past. We will have three primary ensembles, a Women's Ensemble, made up of first year students, our Bella Voce Women’s Choir, which will be made up of our returning women, and a Men's Ensemble. All three ensembles will join together to form our Jaguar Chorale. It’s not too late to sign up for choir next year, so if you have friends or siblings who sing, have them email me or talk to their counselor. We’d love to have more folks to share in the fun next year.

First, a few dates for the calendar for next year. We won’t have much time before things get started in September with Tag Day on September 17. This is one of our biggest fundraisers for our spring trip, and it is much more successful if we have a lot of student and parent involvement. The next major event is for Seniors, and that is VMEA Honor Choir Auditions in October. This is a great opportunity and a huge honor to be selected, so if you are interested in auditioning, please email me soon so I can get you all of the information for the auditions to practice. We will have a Fall Mini-Concert as a way to gather together as a choral community and talk about the coming year. Our next big event is our Combined Winter Concert on December 7 with a rehearsal on December 5 after school.

In the spring, March 24-25, we will bring all of our choirs to the District X Choral Assessment, which is how our choirs and programs are assessed each year (much like their SOLs in other subjects). Our Spring Trip will be exciting, and once we return from break, we will head full steam into preparation for our Spring Show on May 19. These dates are just some highlights, and a complete calendar with all required attendance dates will be sent home during the first week of school. I will also the website updated with the latest information.
